AURORA, Colorado. (AP) – Friends and family of Beth Chapman, co-star of the reality TV show "The Bounty Hunter", gathered Saturday in Colorado. They remembered her as being tough and irreverent, but full of love, even for some of the fugitives she had helped to apprehend. The funeral took place in the state of origin of Chapman after she died last month in Hawaii at the age of 51, where she lived with her family.
She had been fighting cancer for about two years.
Chapman and her husband Duane "Dog" Chapman played in the A & E show until it was canceled in 2012. The show was following the couple while he was apprehending people who had escaped to arrest warrants.
They then performed in Country Music Television's "Dog & Beth: Hunting".
In the Saturday service at the Heritage Christian Center, Duane Chapman recounted how he met his future wife when he posted his bail after stealing a lemon.
The couple married in 2006. At that time, Duane Chapman – the world's best self-proclaimed bounty hunter – had already become famous for capturing the serial rapist and Max Factor's heir, Andrew Luster. , in Mexico in 2003.
"I never admitted that she was going to die," he said Saturday. She said, "How are you going to succeed without me? "And I said," I do not know … She will never be dead for me. "
Duane Chapman recalled how much his wife was inclined to "pamper people really well. And I am one of them. Because she always wanted people to know what was happening if they came from her dark side.
Mary Ellen Pollack, a long-time friend who runs a surety business in Brighton, Colorado, says Chapman's "fingernail-like" public figure foreshadowed a softer face.
"She did not let anyone see it and it's just because of the profession she was in," Pollack said.
