The Cornhuskers bring back the black in 2019. Nebraska and Adidas unveiled Monday a new black alternative uniform for the upcoming season, and it's pretty spectacular.
The revelation was performed on Twitter and included sophisticated promotional photos accompanied by a very cool hype video. The Cornhuskers have one of the simplest and most timeless uniforms of college football, making the design of a palatable alternative a difficult task. But they nailed this one. Look at the alternative uniforms that have been revealed below.
Alternative Black is quite close to the traditional scarlet look of Nebraska, keeping many of the same elements in place while substituting for the primary color. This includes the usual Cornhuskers headphones with the simple decal "N". and only one band in the middle. One of the major differences in the look is the lack of stripes on the sleeves on the jersey; it is replaced by a skull and crossbones logo that incorporates a Nebraska helmet.
This is not the first time that Nebraska uses black substitutes (their last in 2015), but this is perhaps the best version yet. It is not known yet for which game (s) the Cornhuskers will wear the black substitutes, but they may want to keep them in regular rotation in the future.
