'Sup, Starman
SpaceX launched Starman in space over a year and a half ago – but people still think of the Roadster test dummy.
"ANo luck SpaceX could launch a small spaceship that could catch up with Starman and take pictures? "A Twitter user going through the @flcnhvy nickname asked Musk on Sunday.
And based on musk tweeted answer – "In a few years" – Starman is still in his thoughts.
The timing is everything
Musk did not provide any additional detail on a future Starman meeting, such as how or why SpaceX would take pictures of the model.
However, it is unlikely that the timing of the event is random. So, does he want to align with another mission? Will Starman reach a place in 2022 that Musk thinks is ideal for a photo shoot?
Patience game
Hard to say, but one thing is suggested in Musk's tweet: he's not necessarily worried about Starman's distance from the Earth at the upcoming SpaceX rendezvous with the manikin.
If that was the case, the best time to take pictures of Starman would be in November 2020, when the Roadster will be only 51.9 million kilometers away.
Whatever Musk's reasoning about timing, one thing seems clear: we did not see the last Starman member of SpaceX.
