Hubble, the innovative space telescope that has been in orbit since 1990, has captured the incredible image of a fascinating "not-so-dead" galaxy adjacent to ours.
Messier 110 is a member of the "local group" – the name given to the collection of about 50 galaxies, including the Milky Way and several other relatives. According to NASA, it is a "dwarf elliptical galaxy" because of its smooth structure and almost devoid of functions.

Dwarf elliptical galaxies are generally considered "dead" because they lack star formation and usually contain ancient stars. However, Messier 110 is not quite finished yet: astronomers have found signs of a population of young blue stars at its center, potentially giving the galaxy a new lease of life.
Hubble should be replaced in 2021 by an ultramodern successor called the James Webb Space Telescope, which will study the formation of stars and galaxies and look for signs of life on other planets. However, the new $ 9.7 billion aircraft developed by NASA, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency has experienced delays and cost overruns since its announcement in 2009.
