The 71st Emmy Awards attracted a total of 6.9 million viewers last night on Fox, according to Nielsen. He scored 1.6 among adults aged 18-49.

This means that the annual special vintage has about a third of its audience (-33% in the demo and -32% in total) compared to last year. In turn, on a Monday of 2018, NBC set the previous low of the rewards series, namely 2.4 in the key demo and 10.2 million viewers in total.

Prior to the show on Fox's red carpet, the average rating was 0.9 and 4 million viewers on Sunday.

Previously:
The Sunday Emmy Awards on Fox earned a score of 5.8 households, a new historical record among the first figures available from Nielsen.

The special has declined by 22% from last year, when the celebration of the best television had a 7.4 – which set the lowest precedent. This number has been clearly erased (in the wrong direction for Fox and Television Academy) this year.

Last year's Emmys were broadcast on Monday, September 17, 2018 on NBC and were hosted by "SNL: Weekend Update", presenters Colin Jost and Michael Che. This year's ceremony was hostless and a little messy.

The Emmyes of 2018 were not opposed to a television program broadcast on television as in NFL prime time. Sunday's special was beaten against "Sunday Night Football" on the NBC channel (which had a 12.8 night rating), which almost guaranteed this unfavorable outcome for the Emmys. ("Monday Night Football" on the ESPN cable channel, which the Jost / Che Emmys has faced, is much worse rated than "SNF" on NBC.)

This could have been potentially worse, but the 2019 Emmys have almost certainly benefited from their excellent introduction.

Before the ceremony, most of the country watched the New York Giants come back from behind to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in dramatic fashion. The NFL, the country's # 1 media market, a rookie quarter that debuted in Daniel Jones and a realistic competition, offered the best start possible.

Moreover, having – and enriching – the last season of "Game of Thrones" would not have hurt either.

The final Emmys figures, including the total number of viewers, are expected to be announced later on Monday. Find the complete list of winners and candidates here.

The Emmys revolve around the 4 major broadcast networks.
