Allow me to open this column by sharing a few words from the Governor of Alabama:
Huntsville, Alabama is in the space age just like Detroit, Michigan is in the automotive age. We live in the space age. We have to think big and accomplish big tasks. We need to let the rest of the world know that Alabama is the same friendly state it always has been, and that Alabama is welcoming new industries, tourists and retirees. This can only be done by an administration that recognizes our problems and is determined to tackle those problems with a realistic approach that truly makes Alabama the leader of the space age.
Now, this message is not coming from Governor Kay Ivey. It was former Governor James E. “Big Jim” Folsom who made the remarks in 1962.
