On behalf of the earth and space science community, we congratulate the 36 individuals who have received the highest honors from AGU for their excellence in scientific research, education, communication and outreach. .
Even though 2020 has been unpredictable and stressful for all of us in our personal and professional lives, now is the time to recognize those who have pushed the boundaries of our science in many different fields. These awardees – scientists, leaders, educators, journalists and communicators – have made outstanding achievements and contributions to the earth and space science community. These people embody our shared vision of a prosperous, sustainable and equitable future for all, fueled by discovery, innovation and action. These award winners have built their work with integrity, respect, diversity and collaboration, as well as a deep commitment to education and awareness.
We also thank the families, friends, colleagues and other supporters of these recipients who have been and continue to play a key role in their success.
The AGU will be hosting an online celebration to officially recognize this year’s recipients at the # AGU20 fall meeting on Wednesday, December 9 at 3:00 p.m. PT / 6:00 p.m. ET / 10:00 p.m. UTC. It is important that we formally recognize the exceptional work of our colleagues, even though we will not have an in-person awards ceremony this year. This celebration is a chance for all of us to be inspired by the accomplishments and stories of these amazing people. We will share additional details about the event at agu.org/fall-meeting.
