The Oswego County Social Services Department will be closed Thursday and Friday after several workers there tested positive for the coronavirus, county officials said.

Social Services Commissioner Stacy Alvord said in a press release the facility would be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized before reopening on Monday.

Alvord said an employee initially tested positive for Covid-19 late last week. Several others have tested positive in the past few days.

According to Jiancheng Huang, director of public health for Oswego County, county health officials are warning all known people who have come into contact with workers who have tested positive.

Residents of Oswego County who have urgent housing needs or other issues should call 211 for help, the county said.

Individuals wishing to apply for benefits can apply online or leave a claim in the drop box outside the DSS facility at 100 Spring St., Mexico.
