598 new cases, two new deaths reported in Orange County on November 13 – Orange County Register

The Orange County health care agency reported 598 new cases of the coronavirus on Friday, November 13, bringing the cumulative total in the county to 64,058 cases since follow-up began.

It is estimated that 4,616 cases have been registered in the last 14 days.

Two new deaths were reported by the county on Friday, bringing the total number of reported deaths to 1,522.

Of the 1,522 cumulative deaths from the virus, 583 were residents of skilled nursing facilities, 121 were in assisted living residences and five were listed as homeless.

The distribution of deaths by age in the county is as follows:

85 years and older: 32% (495) 75-84: 22% (330, +1) 65-74: 20% (301) 55-64: 14% (211, +1) 45-54: 8% ( 118) 35-44: 3% (40) 25-34: 1.3% (21) 18-24: <. 3% (5) 17 years and under: 0% (1)

Data on deaths in the county is compiled from death certificates or collected during case investigations and can take weeks to process, officials said.

It is estimated that around 88% of the cumulative cases reported, or 56,018 people on Friday, have recovered. The number of people who have recovered is based on the cumulative number of previous 28 days.

The county update reported that 1,229,563 tests have been performed for the coronavirus since testing began locally, with at least 10,935 tests reported in the past 24 hours.

The county also reported 244 hospital patients with the coronavirus on Friday, seven fewer than the previous day’s report. The highest number of hospitalizations in Orange County was 722 on July 14. There were 95 patients enrolled in the ICUs.

Data released each day is preliminary and subject to change, officials say. Further information may become available as investigations of individual cases are completed.
