Fauci is frustrated: ‘Get rid of these ridiculous conspiracy theories’

His comments came Wednesday at an editorial board meeting with USA Today and focused on the false notion perpetuated by some that COVID-19 is no worse than the flu.

Fauci described how COVID-19 differs from regular flu, saying it’s wrong to compare the two.

Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, noted that the United States has now recorded 250,000 deaths from COVID-19. The country has recorded more than 11 million cases.

Fauci expressed hope of coming vaccines, saying Thursday that “the cavalry is coming”.

But the country is in the midst of a severe spike in COVID-19 cases that are likely to dramatically increase the country’s total death toll before vaccines become widely available.
