Multnomah County will emerge from Oregon’s COVID-19 “freeze” on December 3 with the rest of the state.
However, the spread of COVID-19 is still out of control in Multnomah County, so it will move from a freeze to the state’s highest category of public health restrictions, the “extreme risk” level.
Most counties in the state will likely join Multnomah at the “tail risk” level. Many of the current restrictions will remain in place, although some will be less stringent, including the fact that alfresco dining will be allowed in bars and restaurants. Large religious institutions will be able to quadruple the size of their domestic gatherings.
Getting together indoors with people outside your home, without a mask, remains one of the easiest ways to spread or contract COVID-19, and Multnomah County public health officials have warned people in a press release Friday to avoid the “three Cs”:
- Crowded spaces where you are with many people
- Close contact settings where people take off their masks and have close conversations
- Confined space, meaning any enclosed space with poor ventilation.
