A tired British doctor has been released from hospital where he spent New Years Eve treating patients with COVID-19 and into a crowd of maskless protesters shouting “COVID is a hoax”.
“I am disgusted but above all sorry”, Matthew Lee tweeted with video he shot hundreds of protesters outside St Thomas’ Hospital in London.
“I wish people could see the amount of COVID-19 and death in hospitals, and the sacrifices healthcare workers make. This week alone has been so difficult. Their ignorance hurts others.

On New Years Eve, Londoners were warned not to party outdoors in groups and indoor events banning mixed groups from different households were banned, The Independent reported.
Lee’s post took off, was shared and retweeted more than 24,000 times.
TV personality Piers Morgan was the one who noticed, tweeting that he was “bubbling” about Lee’s video. “If this is a hoax, let’s take all these fools inside the Covid room without PPE. See how brave they feel when faced with the reality of people choking to death.

Lee, a Hong Kong native who makes videos about his medical life, was shocked by the response. “Thank you all for your support!” he tweeted on New Years Day. “Covid doesn’t discriminate and we’re all in the same boat.”
