Sandra Lee tackles her New Year’s resolution head-on.
The TV chief and Gov.’s ex-girlfriend Andrew Cuomo announced she started a cleanse at the end of December after gaining 30 pounds last year.
“With Christmas in a bag in my backseat, today really begins the first day of the new year on the job. So today I’m going to start a cleanup, ”Lee, 54, posted alongside an Instagram selfie on Monday.
“My sister Kimber does them all the time. Usually loses up to 10 pounds over a seven day cleanse (we all know the first five as water), ”she continued.
Lee added that 2020 “wasn’t a great health year for anyone,” without her “health hero,” Rebel Wilson, who launched a “year of health” trip last January.
“Personally, over the past year, I gained 30 pounds and weighed 170 two days before Christmas. None of my clothes fit and worse, I feel bad, ”said Lee. “I feel best with 140 pounds, I’m 5’9”, that’s a good weight for me.
Lee said she launched her new diet on Christmas Day, which includes “very, very little carbohydrates” and no red meat or alcohol.
“Lots of vegetables and berries, banana, watermelon, avocado I eat for dinner, fermented foods think of sauerkraut (with Dijon mustard) and I love pickles, definitely eggs, soups with a low sodium broth, ”she detailed. “Coffee, tea (to get me back – I need my caffeine) oh and lots of water ………. A LOT!”
Lee said her new diet is working, revealing that she has lost 10 pounds since Dec. 25. Lee also took a vitamin C energy booster, in addition to other vitamins she has been consuming since March.
“My energy isn’t super great though (1250 calories per day is tough – I LOVE EAT!),” Lee added. “Tomorrow or the next day I’m going to take a vitamin IV and hope that helps a bit.”
2020 was a year of change for Lee, as she sold and moved from the Westchester home she once shared with Cuomo.
The couple announced their separation in September 2019, although Page Six exclusively reported in May of that year that they were no longer living together.
In December, Lee said she cried “all the time” from New York to California after packing up the former couple’s Lily Pond residence.
“I think I’ve been stuffing him for so long I’m done.” It has all been too much – the last 6 years have just been too much… please God 2021 be good for all of us… ”she shared at the time.
At the onset of the pandemic, Lee said in a New York Times profile that she would wake up and watch Cuomo’s daily press briefings. “He’s still my guy,” she said, adding, “None of us that I know of have been on dates.”
