However, if heat is created primarily in part due to radioactive decay, the Earth’s heat is likely to last much longer.

But either of these scenarios should not raise an alarm, as estimates of the accelerated cooling of the Earth’s core involve tens of billions of years.

It’s so long that our star will die long before the nucleus, in about five billion years.
