Fresno County Coronavirus: COVID-19 Vaccination ‘Mega Site’ to Open at Fresno Fairgrounds, Health Officials Say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) – Action News has learned that Fresno County health officials will soon announce that a large vaccination center will be set up at Fresno Fairgrounds to speed up administration of COVID vaccines -19.

Healthcare professionals may be able to administer up to 2,000 vaccines per day at the site.

It was not immediately clear when the mass vaccination site would open at the fairgrounds.

Several large sites across the state, including Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and Disneyland in Orange County, are being converted to vaccination sites as part of the state’s plan to speed up vaccinations.

So far, acute care, mental and correctional hospitals, paramedics, paramedics and other emergency service workers in Fresno County have received the vaccine.

The county is administering vaccines to dialysis centers, long-term care facilities, skilled nursing facilities and other long-term care homes, intermediate care facilities, public health workers , primary care clinics, home health clinics and community health workers. .

Local health officials said they plan to distribute more COVID-19 vaccines to specialty clinics, lab workers, dental and oral clinics, and pharmacy staff by the end of the month. .
