Dallas County Adds 1,377 Coronavirus Cases, 13 Deaths; Tarrant reports 19 more deaths

Dallas County reported 1,377 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, along with 13 more deaths from COVID-19.

The latest victims are nine Dallas residents: a woman in her forties, a man in her 50s, two women and a man in his 60s, two men and a woman in his 60s and a man in his 40s.

The remaining victims were a mesquite man in his fifties, a man from Garland in his sixties, a woman from Balch Springs in his sixties and a man from Lancaster in his sixties.

All of the victims had been hospitalized and had underlying health issues, officials said.

Of the new cases, 1311 were confirmed and 66 were probable.

The newly reported cases bring the county’s total to 234,625, including 207,640 confirmed cases and 26,985 probable cases. The death toll stands at 1871.

Health officials are using hospitalizations, intensive care admissions and emergency room visits as key indicators to track the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the county. Due to a lag in weekend reports, this data will be available next Tuesday.

According to state data, 81,643 people in Dallas County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 14,623 are fully immune.

Texas

Statewide, an additional 18,034 cases were reported on Sunday, including 17,674 new cases and 360 older cases recently reported by labs.

The state also reported 207 deaths from COVID-19, bringing its toll to 32,038.

Of the new cases, 15,667 were confirmed and 2,007 were probable. Of the older cases, 302 were confirmed and 58 were probable.

The newly reported cases bring the state’s total to 2,115,594, including 1,853,521 confirmed cases and 262,073 probable cases.

There are 13,728 COVID-19 patients in hospitals in Texas, including 3,907 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. As of Saturday, 23.7% of patients in the hospital region covering the Dallas-Fort Worth area were COVID-19 patients.

The statewide seven-day average positivity rate for molecular testing, based on the date of sample collection, was 16.24% on Saturday. For antigenic tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 9.76%.

According to state data, 1,109,874 people in Texas have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 166,934 are fully immune.

Tarrant County

Tarrant County reported 1,611 coronavirus cases and 19 deaths on Sunday.

Details of the latest casualties were not immediately available.

Of the new cases, 1,343 were confirmed and 268 were probable.

The newly reported cases bring the county’s total to 192,497, including 166,474 confirmed cases and 26,023 probable cases. The death toll stands at 1,852.

According to the county, 1,488 people are hospitalized with the virus on Friday.

According to state data, 59,542 people in Tarrant County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 5,600 are fully immune.

Collin County

The state added 668 coronavirus cases and five Collin County total deaths on Sunday.

No details on the latest casualties were available.

Of the new cases, 588 were confirmed and 80 were probable.

The newly reported cases bring the county’s total to 63,239, including 54,797 confirmed cases and 8,442 probable cases. The death toll stands at 472.

According to the county, 512 people are hospitalized with the virus.

According to state data, 29,298 people in Collin County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 3,997 are fully immune.

Denton County

Denton County officials said they would no longer report new coronavirus data on Sunday.

As of Saturday, the county had reported 46,272 cases, of which 13,925 were ongoing and 32,098 were recovering. The death toll stood at 249.

Other counties

The Texas Department of State Health Services have resumed reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some countries, new data may not be communicated every day.

The latest numbers are:

• Rockwall County: 8,222 cases (6,873 confirmed and 1,349 probable), 74 deaths.
• Kaufman County: 11,450 cases (9,962 confirmed and 1,488 probable), 150 deaths.
• Ellis County: 16,403 cases (14,457 confirmed and 1,946 probable), 199 deaths.
• Johnson County: 14,435 cases (12,872 confirmed and 1,563 probable), 207 deaths.
