A 19-year-old Nevada who has been on mission for less than a week has collapsed – and died – while working Monday at the LDS Missionary Training Center in South Africa.

Zane Lamping, of Moapa, was transported from Johannesburg TCM to a hospital where he died. According to Daniel Woodruff, spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, "the cause of his death is unknown at this time."

According to Brandon Leavitt, president of the Lamping Nevada End-of-Life Stake, there was no evidence that the young missionary was suffering physical harm.
