Comedian Michael Che is already criticized halfway through “Saturday Night Live” for an anti-Semitic joke.
During the “Weekend Update” Che joked that half of Israel’s population had already been vaccinated and “I’m going to guess it’s half Jewish.”
Lorne Michaels, who is Jewish, cannot be happy. (He might not be happy with some of the other references to his personal wealth during the segment.)
Che is getting a ton of criticism and anger on Twitter right now. But even worse – anti-Semites come forward, applauding the line. What a stupid thing he did. I don’t think that will be the end.
A tweeter said: Michael che perpetrated an anti-Semitic trope against Israel with his vaccine joke. Just to check the facts – Israel has vaccinated half of its population of Israeli citizens – Arabs, Jews and Christians. Shame on you.
Another: WTF, SNL. Your pointless joke about Israel vaccinating only Jews is not just a lie, but it perpetuates anti-Semitism. Inexpensive shot that does more damage than the momentary, derisory laugh you had for that sad joke excuse.
Anti-semite #SNLMichael Che said: “Israel has vaccinated half of its population and I guess it’s half Jewish.” Uh, fact-check: Israel has vaccinated 43% of the Arab population but is struggling to convince them to get vaccinated. STFU anti-#Israel asshole https://t.co/ouTew0JdaX
