Jayson Tatum is confident that the Boston Celtics will succeed – and win – the 2019 finals of the NBA.
"We are going to win the final this year," Tatum said Saturday during an interview with ESPN, as transcribed by NBC Sports Boston.
The Celtics are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings, which is surprising for many who have assumed they will top the conference standings all year.
Although the season has been tough for the Cs, they have found their pace and have won seven of their last 10 games.
After Boston has found the pace, you have to like his chances in the playoffs. The Celtics have perhaps the most talented training of the Eastern Conference and with Brad Stevens behind the bench, anything is possible.
Much of the Celtics' contributions come from their younger core of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier. Tatum averaged 16.5 points per game while Brown averaged 12.7 and Rozier 9.1.
The Celtics will give a boost to all teams in the playoffs, especially with players like Kyrie Irving and Tatum on the field.
Assuming that Tatum's comments reflect what the Celtics' locker room thinks of their chances, we can probably assume that the C's will be one of the toughest teams to face in the playoffs.
