Flight to Las Vegas deflected to nearby military base

LAS VEGAS (AP) – American Airlines said one of its planes bound for the Las Vegas airport had been diverted to a nearby military base to refuel after suffering weather-related delays.

Air Force spokesman Josh Freed said the 671 flight from Dallas had landed safely Saturday at Nellis Air Base, on the outskirts of the Las Vegas metro and about 21 km northeast of the city. 39; McCarran International Airport.

Freed said that he did not have any immediate details on the weather and that it was expected that the jet plane would leave Nellis soon to get to McCarran.
