Despite having a fairly manageable wallet, OnePlus struggles to deliver the latest updates to its flagship devices. The OnePlus 8T, the company’s latest offering, only received the January security patch in February and hasn’t received a single Open Beta update since launching in October – so far .
The first beta does not introduce any new functionality but only focuses on optimizing certain aspects of the software. For example, frame rate stability and gaming experience would have been improved. Other optimizations include animations in the weather app and the cloud service layout in the Gallery app. The February security patch is also included with the update.
Change log
- System
- Optimized display of the status bar user interface
- Optimized frame rate stability and improve its experience while playing games
- Optimization of the community home page with a more visible notification
- Android security patch update to 2021.02
- Time
- Optimized animations on sunny and cloudy days for a clearer dynamic display
- Gallery
- Optimized the layout of the cloud service in the gallery for a better operating experience
Since this is an open beta, the experience should be fairly stable and you may want to consider installing it on your daily driver. There are two different versions available, one for the Indian variant and one for the global variant, which can be installed through the “local upgrade” option in the system update settings.
If you encounter any bugs, you can download the restore package available on the forum page, but keep in mind that this will erase your phone data.
