Produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the producers of Into the Spider-Verse and writers and directors of Lego movie, The Mitchells against the machines follows a dysfunctional family who must save the world from a legion of evil machines.

Aspiring filmmaker Katie Mitchell (Abbi Jacobson) is thrilled to go to the college of her dreams and meet people she loves. But when her old-fashioned dad (Danny McBride) surprises her with a road trip to take her to school, she’s far from thrilled. Things take a dark turn, however, when electronics decide it’s time to take over the world and stand up against humans. Just things that create family bonds!

Formerly titled Bound, The Mitchells against the machines was supposed to hit theaters last September, but has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. Netflix picked up the film in January 2021 and reverted to the film’s original title.

The Mitchells against the machines premieres on Netflix on April 30.
