STRAIT (FOX 2) – Some patients at Beaumont hospitals are now allowed to have a guest who has been vaccinated against COVID-19.
The hospital system announced the new guidelines on Wednesday.
Pregnant women, palliative care patients and pediatric patients are entitled to two unvaccinated visitors per day. All other patients who would not normally be able to receive visitors under the new restrictions can now see those vaccinated. Confirmed or suspected COVID-19 patients cannot receive visitors.
A completed vaccination card and photo ID will be required to visit some patients. The second dose of the vaccine should be received 14 days before the person is considered fully immunized and able to surrender. A photo of the card is also allowed.
“We know we are one of the first healthcare systems to allow visitors to be vaccinated,” said John Fox, President and CEO of Beaumont. “But we recognize that patients recover better when they have a loved one nearby. So we are working hard to find a balance between safety and compassionate family support as we lead the way through the pandemic.

From February 28 until now, Beaumont has seen the number of suspected COVID-19 cases rise from 128 to over 500. Hospitals have also expanded their COVID-19 units as Michigan sees an increase in COVID-19 cases. virus.
“We continue to monitor the numbers very, very closely and are making changes from the incident command centers to better care for our patients,” said Dr. Nick Gilpin, Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Epidemiology at Beaumont Health. “The expansion of COVID-19 units at the sites is a result of this, and we are working hard to provide the best care in the region.”

Hospitals remain open to patients who have other issues unrelated to COVID-19. Masks are compulsory in all Beaumont hospitals.
If you have been vaccinated but do not have a vaccination card, you can request one from their vaccination site. If that’s not an option, each state health department maintains a registry of immunizations, including the Michigan Care Improvement Registry. Vaccine suppliers are required to provide an immunization record to their state’s immunization system within 72 hours.
For people vaccinated outside Michigan, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a central listing of state information and immunization systems.
