State officials continue to forecast that supply will exceed demand by the end of April.

“We remain convinced that anyone looking for a vaccine today, even if they couldn’t find an appointment, will be able to find one within the next two or three weeks,” said Josh Geballe, chief of staff. state exploitation.

About 733,000 people in Connecticut are fully vaccinated and 1.25 million people have received their first dose – 43% of the state’s population 16 and over have been vaccinated.

Vaccine providers will be constantly adding appointments in the days and weeks to come. People who have not been able to secure a date slot are encouraged to come back regularly.

Johnson & Johnson recently announced that up to 15 million doses are expected to be scrapped due to a mixture of ingredients at a manufacturing facility in Baltimore.

The announcement will not affect the Johnson & Johnson dose allocation in Connecticut for the next two weeks, but beyond that there is less clarity, Geballe said.

About 49,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson were administered in Connecticut on Monday.

Connecticut used the Johnson & Johnson doses to vaccinate hard-to-reach communities because it only requires one dose. Programs such as mobile vaccination vans can also use Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, Lamont said.
