NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card could make a comeback, a batch of freshly produced GPUs spotted

NVIDIA may resume supplying one of its largest gaming graphics cards to date, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. According to a forum submission posted on Quasar Zone, a user received a freshly produced batch of GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card after submitting their old 1080 Ti for RMA.

As NVIDIA is silently producing new bundles of GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Pascal GPUs, is the ultimate gaming graphics card destined to make a comeback to combat supply issues?

It’s been over four years since NVIDIA launched its flagship Pascal graphics card, the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. Based on the Pascal GP102 GPU, the GTX 1080 Ti offered a huge performance improvement over the flagships of the previous Maxwell generation and completely destroyed the competition with the only response from rival AMD being the Vega 64 which did managed to compete with the GTX 1080. The card made such a dent on AMD that it took the Red Team several years to launch a high-end response to NVIDIA. It wasn’t until late last year that AMD made a competitive comeback in the high-performance, passionate gaming graphics card segment with its Big Navi GPUs.

So yes, in short, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti was a great sound card in its day and still delivers great performance, but is the card making a comeback? Well, according to the Korean forums, a user has RMA on his old GTX 1080 Ti graphics card received a new one and what is surprising is that the card has a production date of 2021. The card is more specifically an EVGA SC model and another user pointed out that the FTW model he recently received also has a production date of 2021. Since EVGA issues a 3 year warranty on its based graphics cards. on NVIDIA GPU it would not. It does not make sense to produce new batches of a card that has been replaced by newer offerings, or even if it were to serve as a warranty, most replacement units are produced sooner rather than four years after the launch. It’s possible that EVGA ran out of replacement units to deal with shortages at one point and produce newer units now, but that’s just speculation.

NVIDIA recently resumed production of its older GTX 1050, GTX 1650, and RTX 2060 series graphics cards to address shortages in gaming graphics cards and GPUs. It’s likely that the GTX 1080 Ti will also make a comeback in these desperate times, but we have to wait to verify this report before we mark it as something confirmed.
