GENEVA, July 12 (Reuters) – The chief scientist of the World Health Organization on Monday advised against mixing and matching COVID-19 vaccines from different manufacturers, calling it a “dangerous trend” because there had little data available on health impact.

“It’s a bit of a dangerous trend here. We’re in an area with no data and no evidence when it comes to mix and match,” Soumya Swaminathan said in an online briefing.

“It will be a chaotic situation in countries if citizens start to decide when and who to take a second, third and fourth dose.”
