Bodies of missing teenagers found in Farmington River – NBC Connecticut

The bodies of two teenagers who went missing after swimming in the Farmington River last week have been found, officials confirmed on Monday.

The teams have been looking for Anthony Nagore, 17, and Lucas Brewer, 15, since they were reported missing on Thursday.

Keith Williams of DEEP EnCon Police confirmed the two teenagers were found in the river near the Farmington-Burlington line at around 3:15 p.m.

“I just want to say that our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with family members,” Williams said.

The search continued for days as crews had to suspend their efforts due to the dangerous conditions on the water.

Williams has previously said that there was no indication that the teens had personal flotation devices with them when they went out on the water and DEEP urges anyone who goes on a river to wear a life jacket. Authorities warned that rising waters following heavy rains statewide made conditions very dangerous.

“Just stay out of the water for now, it’s not worth the risk,” said Williams, noting that although the water looks peaceful, the currents can be very strong.

Officials from the State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said the two teenagers were friends.

Anyone planning to travel to the Farmington River today is urged to be cautious. Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police are warning that water levels are expected to rise rapidly this morning and currents will be strong even though the water appears calm.

Officials said on Friday morning that a resident saw the teens heading for the river around 1 p.m. Thursday and warned them of the dangers of the water.

Police will resume the search for two missing Plainville teenagers who were last seen swimming in the Farmington River, according to a silver alert released overnight.

The search began around 9 p.m. Thursday and the vehicle the teens were in was found on School Street in Avon, near the Farmington River.

DEEP said personal effects, including their cell phones, sneakers and clothing, were found on the banks of the river on DEEP’s property near a former pumping station.

State and local agencies have responded to help with the search.

Police are looking for two missing Plainville teenagers who were last seen swimming in the Farmington River, according to a silver alert released overnight.

Steve LePage, superintendent of schools in Plainville, sent a message to the school community on Friday saying that one of the teenagers is from Plainville and is attending high school in Plainville. The other is not from Plainville, but was visiting family in town, he said.

LePage said the Cornerstone Counseling Center is available to support all staff, students and families and can be contacted at 860-863-1001.

LePage released a new statement on Monday after the boys were discovered, which reads:

“I’m sure many of you have seen the reports that by late afternoon the two missing boys, Lucas and Anthony, were located. Emergency teams are still on site and have closed some of them. access points to the river. I understand that some still congregate near the river; however, out of respect for privacy and the needs of emergency teams, I asked most of the school staff not to come this evening. I will provide any further information on the services planned in the days to come. Our hearts go out to the families directly affected and to all those affected by these tragic losses. “
