Wednesday morning, Capitals senior reporter Mike Vogel tweeted this. Dmitrij Jaskin lacked training because he was about to be surrendered at noon.
Instead, capitals pulled a switch and placed Devante Smith-Pelly on waivers instead, forcing DSP to leave the ice.
This change took place at mid-session because there are a lot of "moving parts," said Capitals coach Todd Reirden.

Reirden spoke to the press after training capitals.
"There is a lot of movement going on, especially for teams whose salary cap is tight as we are," said Reirden.
When asked why the Caps had changed, Reirden said that this decision was that of "we proceeded organically", but that she "would stay between us, in particular with the amount of things happening in the league right now.
Reirden also noted that it would not be that Caps move only before the trading deadline.
"There are a lot of moving parts in different places right now," he said.
NHL sources, Ian Oland, of RMNB, are told that capital cities have a job to play that required the change of dispensation.
Sources in the league tell me that capitals have a job in preparation. They are clearing money so that someone can have a place on the list.

Reirden said the coaching staff always had "many ideas in mind" for their game on Thursday against Toronto.
The deadline for exchanges is Monday at 17 hours.
