A Briton said he lost his health-obsessed brother and both of their parents to COVID-19 within a week of each other – accusing “misinformation” of leaving them scared of the vaccine.
Francis Goncalves told Wales Online that Papa Basil, 73, was believed to have been infected for the first time on July 6 when he went to hospital with kidney stones while he was with his wife and their other son in Portugal.
Two days later, the father had a family meal – that’s when he probably also infected his wife, Charmagne, 65, and their son Shaul, 40, who lives with his baby friend in the European nation.
“They started to feel really bad this weekend,” said Gonçalves, who was waiting for a negative COVID test before flying out of his hometown to see his sick family.
The following Saturday – while still awaiting clearance to fly – Gonçalves said he received the call that his brother had passed away, despite being the “healthiest person” he knows, a- he declared.
“If he wasn’t training in the gym or running, he was going for a walk. He hadn’t drunk for 15 years and ate whole plant-based foods, ”he said of the brother who was his“ best friend ”.
Their father – who had then already been placed in an artificial coma – died Tuesday, July 20, and their mother four days later, exactly one week after her son.
Goncalves attributes the devastation to his family who refuse to be vaccinated.
“They’ve been caught up in a lot of the anti-vaccination propaganda going around,” Francis said. “He attacks people who are afraid and they fall into the trap,” he said.
“I have spoken to so many people who are terrified of the vaccine and it costs lives,” he warned.
