Unvaccinated dad in intensive care begs others to get vaccinated … and they do

This man’s desperate call is another reminder of the importance of getting vaccinated as soon as possible against COVID-19

Despite continued efforts to educate people about the literal life-saving effects of the COVID-19 vaccine, many eligible people are still not vaccinated against COVID-19. Some populations are not as fortunate as Americans and do not have access to the vaccine, which is why it becomes all the more infuriating (and heartbreaking) that people who can afford the vaccine actively choose to do not do it. Travis Campbell was one of the people who thought he didn’t need the vaccine. Now he is fighting for his life in intensive care, ill with the Delta variant. The Bristol, Va. Resident shared video updates of his recovery on Facebook and urged others who have yet to receive the vaccine to do so and last week many strangers who followed his story online were pressured to get vaccinated.

“I have never been so sick in my life !! My whole family has covid, I really regret not having been vaccinated. I testify to all my bulletproof friends who hold out, it is time to protect your family, its not worth the long term lung damage or death, please go get the shot, “he shared two weeks ago. , he posted video updates chronicling his hospital stay, and people around the world wished him a speedy recovery.

Many thank him for sharing his story, which they hope will prompt those who are reluctant to get the vaccine to make an appointment as soon as possible:

“You save lives every day,” said one commentator. And that’s the truth! There is no denying that vaccination helps slow the spread of the virus, especially the highly contagious Delta variant, which experts at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention say is “as contagious as chickenpox.”

Some also shared that her story convinced them to get the vaccine themselves.

On August 5, just under two weeks after Campbell began sharing his story, he asked anyone who has received the vaccine since to share their story as well. “If you’ve been going for the vaccine since participating in my videos, could you post a photo on this post for my family please,” he asked.

The results were inspiring.

While not everyone who finds out about Travis’ story gets vaccinated, it is a relief that the severity of the pandemic is actually hitting people who were convinced it was just one. flu (or worse, some sort of conspiracy.)

” I can not breathe. I’m drowning. I feel like a fish out of water, ”Campbell told CNN. “It was my fault. I should have taken my kids and my wife and went ahead and got the shot anyway. But I’m paying the price. And I’m just telling everyone and everyone. Anyone: If you’re on the fence, I want you to take a very accurate assessment of what your life means to you, and get yourself vaccinated, please, please.

Hopefully people don’t wait to experience it themselves and get vaccinated as soon as possible, for their own sake and that of their loved ones.
