Former Food and Drug Administration commissioner Dr Scott Gottlieb said over the weekend that the northern United States will experience a peak in COVID-19 because schools reopen.

Gottlieb said the delta variant has increased in the southern United States due to low vaccination rates. But the northern United States could peak soon.
- “The epidemic is clearly slowing down in states like Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri. But at the same time, we are now seeing the virus spreading to the northern states, ”Gottlieb said on“ Face the Nation ”over the weekend.
How to protect children from the delta variant
Dr Anthony Fauci, White House medical adviser on coronavirus, said the country can avoid spreading the coronavirus to children if people take the proper precautions at school and outside.
- “You surround them with those who can be vaccinated, whoever they are, teachers, school staff, anyone, get them vaccinated. So protect the children with a shield from vaccinated people, ”Fauci told NBC’s“ Meet the Press ”.
The children were infected with the delta variant of the novel coronavirus. And, in some cases, it has led to serious illness. For example, two children died at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, due to their severe COVID-19 illness, according to WMC-TV.
Fauci told NBC’s “Meet the Press” that there are children who cannot get the vaccine right now, so schools need to take the necessary precautions to save them.
- “For children who cannot get vaccinated, this is why we have a strong recommendation that in schools everyone should wear a mask, whether you are vaccinated or not.”
