Doctors do not recommend booster injection against COVID-19

EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (WEAU) – Concerns over the delta variant of COVID-19 have raised questions about whether or not a recall will be necessary. Prevea Health President and CEO Dr Ashok Rai is warning people against any type of COVID-19 booster vaccine at this time because it has not yet been approved.

“First of all, we don’t need it. What’s probably the most important thing we’re seeing is pretty good results against the delta variant with current vaccines, ”said Rai.

Although there may be groundbreaking cases, Rai says the expected symptoms are not as severe as those of an unvaccinated person.

“Now remember, the vaccine is not 100% and you are going to get breakthrough infections,” Rai said. “Think about it, three million people are vaccinated in Wisconsin, so there could be 150,000 breakthrough infections. “

Dr Rai says there are still unanswered questions about boosters, like dosage and whether there are any harmful side effects.

“I really don’t recommend running for a booster, we don’t know what dosage to give you right now, it may not do you good. Could this cause you harm? Maybe because we’ve never tried it, ”Rai said.

If a booster is needed down the line, Rai says the vaccine could change, especially as the virus changes.

“As for the actual recall, right now there isn’t one approved because we don’t need it,” Rai said. “If we need it, it will be designed for the purpose it should have, which is to boost. Current vaccines are not designed for this purpose.
