It's fair to say that the news that Reggie Fils-Aime – president of Nintendo of America since 2006 and joined the company herself in 2003 – would retire in April, surprised many people.
He is certainly one of the most recognizable characters in the industry and his willingness to take himself in front of the camera and to laugh at himself seduced him for millions of players, not just for Nintendo fans.
The popularity of Reggie is evidenced by the fact that the news was followed by an avalanche of positive and favorable comments for the great man – including rivals at Sony and Microsoft.
