WAVERLY, Tennessee – Twin babies were swept away by floodwaters in middle Tennessee on Saturday and have died, their families have said.

Their grandmother Angie Willeby said the twins’ father was holding them and their two siblings when the force of the water tore the babies from his arms, WZTV reported.

The family were trying to escape the floods when 7-month-old twins Ryan and Rileigh were swept away. WKRN reported. Their bodies were found close together after a thorough search, WTVF reported. The other children in the family, aged 5 and 19 months, were not injured. The mother was also washed away in the water but managed to get to safety, WTVF reported.

A crowdfunding account was set up to help the family pay for funeral arrangements.

At least 15 people died and dozens of people are missing after severe flooding in central Tennessee, authorities said on Sunday.
