LIMA – The deputy director of Northland Dollar General who was injured on Aug 13 trying to thwart a few shoplifters was fired from her job, according to an update from a gofundme page created by friends of Rachel Dawson.
“Rachel is healing well. She was informed that Dollar General terminated her employment after 15 years. She’s quite hurt by it. One door closes, another door opens. Seams out tomorrow and we’ll just go from there, ”the post said.
According to reports from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, Dawson followed the shoplifters out of the store and latched onto the passenger side door as the driver of the car pulled away, dragging it 250 feet .
Dawson suffered a broken nose, concussion, and numerous cuts and bruises.
As of 6 p.m. Sunday, $ 2,163 had been raised to help cover his medical expenses.
