About 318 drivers were checked for impairment by officers this weekend at an OVI checkpoint on Ohio 60 in Devola.

The checkpoint, manned by the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Marietta Post and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, was funded by a federal grant to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

It took place in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols to aggressively tackle alcohol-related injuries and fatalities.

The average interaction time with the conductors tested was 30 sections.

There were six vehicles hijacked during the checkpoint.

Officers arrested an impaired driver, as well as a drug arrest and another traffic ticket. The saturation patrol arrested an impaired driver, while also resulting in a felony drug arrest, a misdemeanor drug arrest and four other traffic tickets.
