A US senator from Michigan kicked off his statewide motorcycle tour on Monday in the tiny hamlet of Putnam Township of Hell.
Democrat Gary Peters kicked off on day one of his Hell to Paradise motorcycle tour and visited Screams Souvenirs, a small business that benefited from the Paycheck Protection Program. He highlighted how the US bailout provided vital federal assistance to local small businesses.
In a statement, Peters commented, “There’s no better way to see all that Michigan has to offer than by riding a motorcycle. I was proud to kick off this year’s tour in Hell, Michigan – and even to be named honorary mayor for the day. Peters says the stops allow him to see and hear firsthand how the US bailout has kept small businesses and local communities afloat and recovering during the pandemic.
The unofficial Mayor of Hell and owner of Screams Souvenirs, John Colone, said it was an honor to welcome Senator Peters to Hell and appoint him mayor of the city for the day. Colone thanked Peters for his work in helping push the US bailout out for small businesses like his – saying they were able to receive critical federal resources to keep employees on the payroll and out of doors. open.
After the hell stop, Peters went with a group of cyclists to Flint and visited 501 Bar & Grill, which received support from the Paycheck Protection Program and Restaurant Revitalization Fund. .
Throughout the motorcycle tour, Peters says he will continue to highlight how the US bailout is making a difference and allowing the Michiganders to rebuild better. He will travel to Alpena and Mackinaw City before concluding the tour in Heaven.
