The British flag will be carried by a pair of Paralympians quads, swimmer Ellie Simmonds and archer John Stubbs during the opening ceremony.

Simmonds will look to add to their record of five gold medals, while Stubbs, 56, will look to match their Beijing 2008 triumph as the oldest GB team to compete in Tokyo.

The GB team will be represented by 227 athletes competing in 19 of the 22 Paralympic events.

The GB team won 64 gold medals out of a total of 147 medals in Rio five years ago to finish second in the medal table behind China, crushing their total of 34 London 2012 gold medals.

144 of the British athletes who travel to Tokyo will be returning Paralympians, with 43 champions in the running.
