The Riverside County Oversight Board shared a COVID-19 situation report at the start of its meeting on Tuesday morning.
“We have spent a lot of time reviewing our data and are happy to say that we have a full analysis to share with you today,” said Kim Saruwatari, director of Riverside University Health System-Public Health.
Saruwatari said the county has analyzed the latest COVID-19 data in the community to observe trends in cases, hospitalizations and deaths among those vaccinated compared to those unvaccinated.
“The bottom line is that unvaccinated people are 37 times more likely to contract COVID than those who are fully vaccinated in Riverside County. And unvaccinated individuals are 120 times more likely to die from COVID than those who are fully vaccinated, ”she said.
She added that just over a million people have been vaccinated so far in Riverside County.
“If you look at our cases overall, 91% of our cases have occurred in unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals compared to 9% in our fully vaccinated individuals,” she said.
The county also reported that 97% of all deaths to date have been in unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people, and 3% have been in fully vaccinated people.
