The Town of LaGrange announced last week that several streets in downtown LaGrange will be closed to traffic on Friday in preparation for the LaGrange Cycling Classic event.

Motorists are encouraged to use Broad Street as an alternate route.

The following streets will be closed at various times of the day. All streets are expected to be reopened to traffic and parking after 10 p.m. Friday night.

Starting at 8 a.m. on Friday, Broome Street from Bull Street to Main Street will be closed to parking and traffic. The businesses in the area will always be open to pedestrian traffic.

From 2 p.m. on Fridays, Main Street from Byron Hurst Street / East Depot Street to South Lafayette Square (Vernon Street), Bull Street from South Lafayette Square (Vernon Street) to Byron Hurst Street and Byron Hurst Street from Bull Street to Main Street will be closed to traffic and parking. From 4 p.m. on Friday, South Lafayette Square (Vernon Street) from Bull Street to Main Street and East Lafayette Square and West Lafayette Square will be closed to traffic and parking.

Downtown LaGrange Development Authority, or DLDA, will host this event on the streets of downtown LaGrange. Hundreds of professional and amateur cyclists will participate in LaGrange Cycling Classic. The first race will start around 5:00 p.m. and end around 9:45 p.m. and is free for the public. This inaugural cycling criterium is part of the USA CRITS Speed ​​Week series. The criterium is a competitive multi-lap closed-loop circuit race along the streets of downtown LaGrange.
