Sheridan County resident dies attributed to COVID-19 – Sheridan Media

The Wyoming Department of Health confirmed the death of a Sheridan County resident attributed to COVID-19 on Tuesday. According to the Department of Health, the older adult man died in mid-August and had health issues known to put patients at a higher risk of serious illness from COVID-19. This brings the death toll of residents of Sheridan County to 34. There have been three deaths from COVID-19 since the end of July. Before the death in late July, the last death associated with COVID-19 in Sheridan County occurred in March.

An elderly person is classified in the category of persons over 65 years of age. Additional personal information is protected by the Medicare Portability and Liability Act, or HIPPA. Deaths among Wyoming residents are added to the state’s total coronavirus-related deaths based on the location of a person’s permanent residence and official information on the death certificate. While death certificates do not describe COVID-19 as causing or contributing to a person’s death, those deaths are not included in Wyoming’s tally of coronavirus-related deaths.
