The Chicago White Sox The starting rotation was in shambles last week due to injuries, but they’re about to receive a major boost. According to NBC Sports Chicago’s Chuck Garfein, Tony La Russa says the plan is for Carlos Rodon to start on Friday, Lance Lynn on Sunday and Lucas Giolito on Tuesday.

Carlos Rodon missed his last start with pain in his left shoulder. Lucas Giolito and Lance Lynn were placed on the IL. Giolito’s passage over the IL was due to a hamstring strain that kicked in when he slipped while making a first-base pitch in his previous outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Lynn has missed time because of an inflammation in his right knee that has been bothering him since the Field of Dreams game.

According to Tony La Russa, their stays in IL were more of a precautionary measure. If it was the playoffs, Lynn, Rodon and Giolito probably would have gutted it and not missed it at any point. The White Sox rotation has been the strength of the team and the White Sox weren’t willing to take any chances with their precious arms, especially with the playoffs looming.

The Chicago White Sox have a big weekend streak against the Boston Red Sox on the horizon. With less than 30 games to play for each team, that home stretch is crucial. The Boston Red Sox are half a game ahead of the Wild Cards standings.

The Chicago White Sox need their rotation to be in full swing as soon as possible.

They’re hanging on to home court advantage in this one-game playoff against the New York Yankees who are the other Wild Card team. They still have to fend off the Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics who are on their heels.

Meanwhile, the White Sox try to gain the home advantage for the American League Divisional Series. As it stands, the White Sox should face the Houston Astros. They are one game behind the Astros in the standings, with the Astros holding the tiebreaker. The White Sox have been much better at home this season than on the road.

The White Sox are 46-26 at the Guaranteed Rate Field while they are only 34-35 on the road. On top of that, the White Sox were swept away by the Astros in Houston but won two of three against them at home.

The White Sox need to start stringing together wins if they hope to gain a field advantage. Getting Rodon and Lynn back in time for this series against a very good Red Sox lineup is huge. The timing of their return also allows Rodon and Lynn to begin the final tune-up ahead of the playoffs.

Carlos Rodon will face Tanner Houck on Friday. Dylan Cease will start Saturday’s game. Sunday’s pitching game is particularly intriguing with Chris Sale facing his former team against White Sox ace Lance Lynn. Lucas Giolito will face the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday.
