LEWISTOWN – Lewistown Police say a woman made an unauthorized purchase using an ex-boyfriend’s credit card.

Police said a resident complained when he noticed an unauthorized purchase of $ 72 on his bank statement, accusing Helen Smith, 27, of making charges through Facebook Pay.

She was charged on September 1, 2021, according to a Lewistown Police Department report.

The victim suspected Smith, an ex-girlfriend, of being responsible. Officers contacted Smith, who denied making the alleged purchases on Facebook and using her ex-boyfriend’s credit card. The person who received the payment from Smith confirmed that Smith placed an order through Facebook Pay, according to the report.

Smith’s ex-boyfriend contacted this salesman to explain that the charges were not authorized; Smith denied stealing the credit card at the seller’s request.

Police charged Smith with access device fraud, a first-degree misdemeanor.
