Various events around the Valley are planned in memory of September 11:
• AUSTINTOWN – 9 am Saturday at the Mahoning Valley 9/11 Memorial Park site on Raccoon Road. The service will feature speakers from the Austintown Police and Fire Department, and another speaker representing the United States military.
• CANFIELD – Saturday at 1 pm, Back the Blue Rally at Canfield Village Green. Speakers will be present with music. A commemorative motorcycle ride will be organized by the Blue Knights. All motorcycles are welcome.
• GIRARD – Knights of Columbus Girard Council 2935 will celebrate the 20th anniversary at 8:50 am Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 618 Ohio Ave., McDonald, with a Memorial Mass to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
• HOWLAND – Medici Museum of Art, 9350 E. Market St. Events start at 9:30 am on Saturdays and run throughout the day, including a free concert with Ricky Lee at 5 pm. The museum has partnered with the NYC 9/11 Museum to put artefacts, photos and videos on display.
• VIENNA – Service at 10 am Saturday at the commemorative exhibition at the fire station, national road 193. Guest speakers and members of the fire service will share their stories.
• WARREN – 10 am Saturday, American Legion Post 1090 High Street, memorial ceremony in front of the building.
• YOUNGSTOWN – Today at noon, first floor atrium of Cushwa Hall on the Youngstown State University campus. The souvenir, sponsored by YSU’s Department of Criminal Justice and Consumer Sciences, features members of the YSU Police Academy reading the names of first responders who died in the attacks.
