The county health department reported 112 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday. The number of people infected with the virus in hospital remains at 24, a day after doubling.

Of the new cases, according to information gathered Thursday, 45 were from people residing in the Jamestown zip code. Other areas to note: 14 in Fredonia, eight in Dunkirk and five each in Falconer and Ashville.

There are currently 336 active cases of the virus in the county, down nine from Thursday’s figures; 705 people in quarantine, a jump of 81 from the previous day; and a seven-day positivity rate of 9.1%, which is unchanged.

There have been 1,245 new cases since August 1, of which 56% involved unvaccinated people, 17% fully vaccinated, 7% partially vaccinated and 20% whose vaccination status was not known.

Regarding vaccinations, 61.8% of the population over 12 years of age in Chautauqua County have received at least one dose while 56.4% are considered fully vaccinated.
