Victim of fatal accident identified as Nathan Yoder, Belcourt | News, Sports, Jobs

North Dakota Highway Patrol identified a 44-year-old man who was killed in a frontal crash 1 ½ miles east of Rolla on Monday morning as Nathan Yoder of Belcourt. Three people in Yoder’s vehicle, Elizabeth Yoder, 39, a 13-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl, all from Belcourt, were taken to hospital with serious injuries after the crash, as was the driver of the other vehicle, Charles Vondal Jr., 22, of Rolla, who was also seriously injured.

According to the patrol, Nathan Yoder was driving a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan east on US Highway 281 and Vondal was driving a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee west on US Highway 81. A third vehicle, which was not struck , was stopped in the eastbound lane to turn left on 52nd Avenue NE and was waiting for Vondal to pass before turning. Nathan Yoder passed the stopped car and struck Vondal’s vehicle head on in the westbound lane. The two vehicles entered the northern ditch after the collision. All vehicle occupants had to be extricated from their vehicles.

The accident happened at 8:08 a.m. on Monday.
