PARIS, Ky. (WTVQ) – Fall, the nicest season of the year, is almost here, and that means it’s time for fall festivals.
After being canceled last year due to COVID-19, the popular Paris-Bourbon County Pumpkin Festival is back with live music, food trucks, vendors and pumpkin paintings, showcasing the charm of the small towns of Paris.
“You know everyone here, you can see everyone, say hello, ask how their kids are doing in school, and that’s the charm of living in a small town,” said Rebecca McCauley.
For some, the festival is a great weekend getaway from the city. Ryan and Katie Galanaugh are visiting Louisville for the weekend.
“I’ve always heard of Paris, I’ve heard it’s super cute, super quaint, so we just made it a day, we had a great breakfast. You know, it’s fall, one of my favorite times of the year, so we try to make it a weekend, ”said Ryan Galanaugh.
But it’s not just a festival: Proceeds from the festival go to AccuTran Industries, which helps local counties of Bourbon, Nicholas and Harrison with mental disabilities train for life and work.
Tammy Liggett says that’s why she decided to bring her confectionery to the festival.
“It hit close to home because we have disabled family members and we thought we wanted to go out and support everyone,” Liggett said.
The Bourbon County Pumpkin Festival ran from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with live music featuring local artists.
