“The Bermuda Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices [BACIP] met yesterday and agreed that booster shots be recommended for Bermuda, ”Health Minister Kim Wilson said.

Releasing the test results tonight, Health Minister Kim Wilson said: “This is great news. Recommended target groups for booster vaccines are people with immunosuppression and chronic diseases, healthcare workers, essential workers and people over 50 years of age.

“The boosters will be an mRNA vaccine, such as Pfizer, and will be administered six months after the primary vaccination. The Department of Health is currently working on the details of the delivery.

“BACIP provides advice on the implementation of the Covid-19 vaccine. BACIP, in its evidence-based advisory role, will bring transparency and credibility to the decision-making process and help build public confidence in the immunization program.
