Spread Creek area closed to finding Petito – Buckrail

MOOSE, Wyo. – A closure of the Spread Creek area in the Bridger-Teton National Forest has been published last night, as the FBI and law enforcement continue their search for Gabrielle Petito.

This area is closed to the public and will remain so until surveys are completed.

The scattered Spread Creek camping area is located in the Bridger-Teton National Forest on the eastern edge of Grand Teton National Park. On the ground, FBI investigations are being conducted by the National Park Service, the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Jackson Police Department.

The FBI has requested public assistance in this matter from anyone who used the scattered camping area of ​​Spread Creek between the dates of August 27-30, 2021 and who may have been in contact with Gabrielle “Gabby” Petito or her fiancé, who could have seen their vehicle.

“While we cannot comment further on the details of this investigation, we will provide updates and seek further assistance from the public where appropriate,” the FBI said on Saturday evening.

Gabrielle Petito of Blue Point, New York, was reported missing to the Suffolk County Police Department by her family on September 11 at approximately 6:55 p.m. According to the family, they were last in contact with her during the last week of August.

Before the last communication, Petito was reportedly in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.

Petito had been traveling across the country with his fiance in a 2012 white Ford Transit since July 2. Her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, returned from their trip alone. Authorities have reported that he is now also missing after refusing to cooperate with investigators into Petito’s disappearance.

Petito is white, is approximately 5 feet 5 inches, and 110 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes, and several tattoos, including one on her finger and one on her forearm that says “let it be”.
