LEXINGTON, Ky. (RELEASE) (WTVQ)– The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is advising the traveling public that the mowing season continues for central Kentucky. District 7 crews and contractors will work on the third cycle of mowing along national roads.
Specific counties (Anderson, Bourbon, Garrard and Woodford) will provide their own mowing operations. The exact dates of the work for each county will vary and the work is dependent on weather conditions.
Cycle 3 operations will begin on Monday September 20 and will continue through Monday October 4 for the following counties:
- Boyle
- Clark
- Fayette
- Jasmine
- Madison
- Mercier
- Montgomery
- Scott
Note: The construction schedule will not necessarily be in exact order for the counties listed above
Mowing operations generally do not cause lane closures or similar impacts. However, motorists should be aware of changes in traffic, especially slowing traffic or slowing traffic along two-lane highways. The Transportation Cabinet is asking motorists to help prioritize safety by slowing down and using appropriate discretion where crews are working.
Residents are also reminded that Kentucky law prohibits the posting of political or advertising signs on state holdings. Signs can pose a hazard to motorists and mowing crews and will be removed. Panel owners can collect them for a period of time after their removal by visiting the state maintenance facility in their county.
